Met Your Soulmate Online? What You Need to Know About Self Defense Before You Meet Him In Person.

Online dating sites are becoming increasingly popular. They can be a great way to meet someone you may have never crossed paths with otherwise. I know, because I met my husband on a dating site. We lived a 1000 miles apart. He is the love of my life and we would never have met if he had not sent me an online flirt first.
But meeting someone in person that you have only talked with on the phone or chatted with online can be a dangerous situation. You never really know exactly what you might encounter. This is why having knowledge of women’s self defense is important before that first meeting.
You don’t have to be a martial arts expert to protect yourself, although learning at least a few self defense tactics is always a good idea. But you should always carry some type of self defense weapon. The top two choices are mace and stun guns.
Stun guns are an excellent non lethal alternative for self defense. They work by sending electrical impulses through the body. This simultaneously dumps more energy in the muscles than they can handle and disrupts the electrical system in the brain. Together, these cause a loss of muscle control.
Although you must make contact with the person for a stun gun to be effective, they do work through about an inch of clothing. Also, even the sound of a stun gun going off has been proven to be a deterrent. The effects can last from 2 to 10 minutes, which gives you time to get away.
Current models of stun guns include mini stun guns which can  fit in the palm of your hand. You can easily keep it concealed it until you need it. I found a great one on  this site
Pepper spray is a second non lethal alternative.  Pepper spray causes temporary blindness and restricted breathing. The effects of pepper spray can last up to an hour giving you time to escape. Some models are disguised as pens or lipsticks. Once again, this gives you the advantage of keeping it concealed until you need it.
Meeting someone for the first time can be exciting. It can also be dangerous. Do not let your emotions overrule your common sense. Most women raped on a first date date do not consider the need to carry a self defense weapon until it’s too late.
I hope your online match will turn out to be as wonderful as mine was. But in the event that he turns out to be a sicko instead of  a soulmate, make sure you are prepared to protect yourself.
Stay Safe!
